“If I had a golf swing like Mark, I would sell the clubs and take up fishing!”
I have had somewhat of an advantage having had a club shoved in my hands from 2 years of age and raised in just about every Pro Shop in the country.
Yes, my parents were golf addicts, so I became more familiar with Irish golf courses than Irish streets and I learnt to count backwards -1, -2, -3 etc….forward counting was always a bad day at the office! With my late father, Peter O’Hara, the greatest man I have ever known (and ever will know), having served in every office of the oldest golfing union in the world and ultimately becoming President of The Golfing Union of Ireland he ensured golf ran through my veins and made my heart tick. This has never changed, and I continue to trod the well-worn paths to many friends in Irish golf clubs across the whole island.
I am delighted to share my experience and golfing knowledge with every visitor to our shores and while I can no longer hit the ball as far, or even straight, I remain as proud as ever to walk the fairways of Mother Nature’s finest creation…Ireland’s Golf Courses!
“No argument from me, Gary is certainly the better golfer, but you’d expect that with him being 65 years older than me!”
When I’m not miss-hitting golf balls, you’re more likely to find me on two wheels, whether that’s on my motorbike, mountain bike or road bike. As an avid lover of the great outdoors, I enjoy everything from wild camping and Parkruns, to leisurely walks with my dog along a local beach or forest trail.
Combining our 40+ years’ experience working within the travel and tourism, sports tour operator and sales industry, Gary and I are delighted to welcome you all to 18Ireland and are excited to share with you the natural beauty, hospitality and heritage of our outstanding golf offerings.
