From the top of the 4th hill, players can enjoy breathtaking views of the Irish Sea, Belfast Lough, the Antrim Hills, and even the coast of Scotland.

A Course of Champions

The course has attracted major events over the years, including the Ulster and Irish Professional Championships and several high-profile Pro-Ams. Legendary golfers such as Christy O’Connor Senior, Fred Daly, Peter Allis, Tony Jacklin, and Roberto de Vincenzo have graced the fairways. In August 1962, Christy O’Connor Senior set the course professional record with an incredible 62, featuring nine birdies, eight pars, and an eagle at the 460-yard 5th hole.

Bangor Golf Club has a strong connection to Rory McIlroy, as his coach, Michael Bannon, served as club professional until recently. It’s not uncommon to spot Rory and Michael practicing on the fairways during the year.
