The Kirkistown Experience

Founded in 1902, Kirkistown Castle Golf Club has been a beloved landmark for over a century. The present course layout was designed by James Braid in 1934 and has stood the test of time. The elevated tees and greens are a defining feature, offering a strategic challenge that makes Kirkistown Castle a true test for even the lowest handicappers.
The Par 69 course spans 6,167 yards, which is longer than many Par 71 courses. The course plays in a classic ‘Open Championship’ links style, where strategy and precision are key to scoring well. Due to its quick-drying links terrain, the course is rarely closed, making it one of the most playable courses in Ireland, even after heavy rain.
The signature hole is the Par 4 10th, stretching 435 yards, and is reputed to be one of the most difficult Par 4s in Irish golf. The wonderful variety of holes tests every aspect of a golfer’s game, with the Irish Sea coast winds adding an unpredictable element to the challenge.
Kirkistown Castle Golf Club is home to a thriving community of around 800 members across various categories, from young beginners to seasoned professionals and social members who enjoy the food, drink, and great craic that defines the club’s warm atmosphere.
